Single crystals of ZnO are grown by hydrothermal method in hemihedral direction (0001) . The obtained crystals are measuring up to 50 mm. They are featured by good optical homogeneity, law impurity content and steady technical parameters. ZnO belongs to “strong” piezo-electrics having semiconductor properties. Unit cell parameters of ZnO are near to them of GaN.
ZnO is used in: acoustoelectronics (dirigible SAW filters), piezo-engineering (chemical and medical sensors) and optics (substrates for semiconductor lasers).
