Single crystals of corundum (leicosapphire) are grown with Verneuil and Kiropoulos method having dimension up to 140 mm. Crystals have high content of impurities, high transparence and stability of mechanical properties. Growth is occurred in direction of hemihedron [0001], rhombohedra [1012] and prism [1120]. Crystals are applied for making optical elements, crystal substrates and jewelry.
